Delhi government has started ‘Student Advisory Board’ to enhance leadership skills of students in schools and increase their participation in various roles. In the pilot phase, it was started in 20 schools, which showed excellent results. Now after the success the government is planning to extend it to more schools.

After the success of the pilot phase, Education Minister Atishi discussed with these students in a program organized at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya Co-Ed Moti Bagh-II Nanakpura on Wednesday. Education Minister Atishi said, earlier such student advisory boards were seen only in big private schools.

Now it will prove useful for students in government schools as well. These have made this possible in Delhi Government Schools with a vision to provide world class education and best learning opportunities to every student. Through Student Advisory Boards, we aim to create a platform for enhancing the leadership skills of the students.

During this the students shared their experiences of the School Advisory Board. The students told that this initiative has helped in boosting their confidence. Along with this, his professional development took place and skills like leadership skills, time management also developed.

This is the process of selection in schools

The members of the Student Advisory Board in schools are chosen by the students themselves through an electoral process. The members then elect two general secretaries. After this, the selected members of the board constitute the Cultural Committee, Academic Advisory Committee, Discipline and Wellness Committee, Anti-Bully Committee, Patriotism and EMC Committee, Sports and Fitness Committee, Environment Committee, etc. under the guidance of the Teacher Coordinator.
